Donations

You can donate items, photographs and other materials to the Museum. We welcome items and photographs that tell powerful stories about Helsinki. The basis for accrual is specified in the collection policy (in Finnish). The collection researchers make a decision on accepting the donation after studying the item or photograph offered and comparing it to objects already featured in the collections.

Helsinki City Museum will introduce a new collection management system. Due to this the decision making process can take a longer time during 30.8.2021–9.1.2022.  

The collections already have lots of certain item types, such as food ration cards and sewing machines, that are no longer accepted. The same applies to photographs of unknown persons and cases where the copyright of the photograph is unclear. Helsinki City Museum obtains full rights of ownership, use and control of the donated items and photographs. The City Museum does not accept deposits.
