Good Hair Day
The Good Hair Day event celebrates different afro hair and curls and provides information and tips on taking care of afro hair.
The event includes workshops on caring for afro hair. GHD will be bringing in braiders and barbers that offer quick hairdos. The event also offers the opportunity for visitors to network with other Afro-Finns in a safer space. Everyone interested in taking care of afro hair is welcome to the event.
If you wish to have your hair cut or braided at the event, we ask that you please take care of a couple things so everyone can have a pleasant experience: Please make sure your hair is washed, detangled and dried before coming. Only quick styles are offered so that we can accommodate as many visitors that are interested. You can inquire about booking for additional services with your barber/braider when you have your turn. Visitors will be accommodated on a first come, first serve basis by signing up with a GHD volunteer.
The event is organised by Good Hair Day (GHD) together with Helsinki City Museum, and it is part of the programme of the Being Black – Afro Finns’ Experiences exhibition.
Entry to the event is free of charge.
