Cultural exchange in the field of art and science
Villa Karo and the Helsinki City Museum invite everyone to join the guided exhibition tour and panel discussion.
The panel discussion will focus on the significance of cultural exchange. The participants in the discussion include cultural and creative industry ambassador Paula Parviainen, along with Villa Karo alumni, philosophy professor Mikko Yrjönsuuri, visual artist Anna Retulainen, and photographer Stefan Bremer. Visual artist Teemu Mäki will provide a commentary.

5:15 pm Guided tour of the exhibition Being Black – Afro Finns’ Experiences (4th floor)
6:00 pm Welcome speech (in the lobby)
6:10 pm Video presentation of Villa Karo: sculptor Sakari Kannosto
6:15 pm Panel discussion
Villa Karo is a Finnish-West African residency and cultural center located in the village of Grand-Popo, Benin. Its aim is to increase awareness among artists, researchers, and cultural influencers about West Africa and promote collaboration between artists and researchers.
Villa Karo provides Finnish professionals in science, art, and culture the opportunity for residency work in Benin. It also serves as a cultural center in Grand-Popo.
