Take a trip in Helsinki this summer
You can build a prefabricated building, climb to the top of the city, browse through a giant wooden book and pop by the souvenir kiosk in the City Museum’s Places & Hoods – See Helsinki Anew Summer exhibition. You can also take part in guided walking and cycling tours of Malminkartano. The exhibition is open until 15th September.
The oldest inhabited wooden house in Kruununhaka, the Burgher’s House, located close to the City Museum is also open for visit in the Summer season until 29th September.
The closing party of Youth Pride will be held in the White Hall (Valkoinen sali) and the City Museum on Saturday 29 June. During the Tall Ships Races on 4–7 July, the City Museum will be hosting the DJ Helsinki Academy, Huolituoli pop-up conversation help and Ilmastokahvila climate café events intended for young people.
The Children’s Town invites families with children on a summer adventure of their own. You can eat snacks in the museum lobby and leave the trolley in the shadow.
In August it is time for the Night of the Arts and outdoor cinema at Fascinating Film Garden offering Finnish classics set in Helsinki and, by popular demand, the Alfred Hitchcock thriller Rear Window.
You can find lovely souvenirs and summery gifts to bring home at the museum shop.
Happy Summer!
