Night of the Arts: Helsinki in film
During the Night of the Arts, the City Museum will focus on cinema: we will both discuss and watch short films and commercials. Free entry!
Come spend the Night of the Arts at the Helsinki City Museum! The event will start with a panel discussion in the museum lobby about the cultural environment of Helsinki as seen in Finnish films. Set designer Minna Santakari and researcher Juha Seitajärvi will talk about what kinds of dreams and cinematic stories the city’s various blocks and milieus have served over the years. The discussion will be led by Sirpa Susi from Helsingin Studiopalvelut.
Later in the evening, we will watch Helsinki-related short films, documentaries and commercials in the Falkman courtyard. The films will be screened with an old-time analogue 35 mm film projector. Visitors can also go see the projector room.
Programme
19:00–20:00 ‘Stadin Mestat: Old Helsinki in Fiction Film’ panel discussion (museum lobby)
20:00–22:30 Tour of the projector room (Falkman studio)
