Afternoon date: Gunnar Taucher as the city architect
Tapahtuma
-
Helsinki City Museum, Aleksanterinkatu 16
Anne Mäkinen, Head of the Helsinki City Museum’s Cultural Environment Department, will talk about Gunnar Taucher, the city architect of Helsinki from 1924 to 1941. The architecturally high-quality and distinctive buildings designed by Taucher and his staff—including hospitals, warehouses, fire stations, water reservoirs, schools, housing units and kiosks—are an important part of the architectural heritage of Helsinki and the living environment of its residents. Mäkinen has written a book about Taucher that will be published in late October. Please note that this event will be conducted in Finnish.
