Museum Birthday Party: Children’s Disco
Saturday the 13th of May is a day of celebration at the Helsinki City Museum. It has been a year since the new museum opened, and we would like to invite everyone to party with us!
Starting at 1 P.M, the museum’s lobby is taken over by DJ Luca Gargano and his five-year old sidekick DJ Wilma. The air will be filled with danceable tunes both kids and grown-ups can dance and party to! Alongside the disco, from 1 P.M to 4 P.M, a magician twists and turns balloons into wondrous shapes and figures.
The more artsy-and-craftsy guests can venture into Falkman’s Wing where kids can use a treasure trove of materials to create birthday crowns of their liking.
Early evening program
After 4 P.M, the birthday program goes on a trip through the decades. The industriously talkative duo Aune & Hilma bring their greetings from the 1950s, as they ponder and comment the modern way of life. In the Kasari Room, guests can snap Polaroids and handle strange 1980s stuff. A crowd favorite from the Music!-exhibition makes a grand return, as the Dance Wall teaches guests about dances from the decades.
Adventurous guests can join the museum’s new Ghost Walk -tour, which visits the dead returned who still haunt the museum’s vicinity. Learn about urban legends and how they are created at 4 and 6 P.M. The Ghost Walk guidance is in Finnish.
Producers of the newly opened HelSEXinki exhibition meet-and-greet guests on the 4th floor of the museum.
