Mental spaces and landscapes in queer history walking tour (in Finnish)
Welcome to the Rainbow Historical Walking Tour on Tuesday 28 June at 5pm!
The tour starts at the Helsinki City Museum Info, Aleksanterinkatu 16–18.
The tour is in Finnish.
The themes of the Rainbow Historical Walking Tour are in the intersections of the history of sexual and gender minorities, mental health, art and culture. The shared history of queer minorities and mental health care has passed through times of criminalization and medicalization to the present moment. The journey has accommodated a lot and many issues. In what kind of landscape grows hope, and from where does one get energy and courage?
The guides for the guided walk are the non-fiction writer Rita Paqvalén and the visual artist Katriina Rosavaara.
Rita Paqvalén has recently published a book on queer history (in Swedish): Queera Minnen – essäer om tystnad, längtan och motstånd (Schildts & Söderströms). The art installation Disko Homosexualitas F320.6 by Katriina Rosavaara is currently on display in connection with the exhibition Broken – A Shattered Mind at the Helsinki City Museum.
